MPPPME Assesses Kwankwaso Township Roads, Other Projects Worth Over N49b In Madobi LGA
The Kano State Ministry for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPME) has conducted a comprehensive technical evaluation and assessment of 24 developmental projects valued at ₦49,379,454,632.95 across Madobi Local Government Area, as part of its sustained efforts to ensure quality project delivery, accountability, transparency and prudent utilization of public funds.
The exercise formed part of the Ministry’s weekly statewide routine monitoring tour, designed to assess the level of implementation of government-funded projects, identify technical and construction-related challenges, and ensure that contractors adhere to approved specifications, standards and contractual obligations.
The Thursday monitoring exercise commenced with an assessment of the Kubarachi Bridge, one of the major infrastructure projects serving rural communities in Kano State. The Ministry’s Civil Infrastructure Department, led by its Director, Engr. Ibrahim Idris, inspected the bridge and its accompanying embankment works.
The technical team commended the progress recorded on the embankments, noting that the observation raised during a previous monitoring visit had been addressed. The assessment underscored the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that contractors respond promptly to technical recommendations and deliver infrastructure that meets the required standards of quality, durability and public safety.
The Honourable Commissioner for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, expressed satisfaction with the level of work executed on various developmental projects in Kwankwaso town, while reiterating the importance of sustained monitoring to guarantee value for money and quality service delivery.
Among the projects inspected were the construction of a three-compartment toilet facility, two classroom blocks at S.K. Primary School, and the renovation of classrooms at Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso Primary School.
The monitoring team also assessed the maintenance of access roads at the School of Nursing, the construction and rehabilitation of township roads and drainage systems, the renovation of physical infrastructure at the Chinese Bilingual College, and the rehabilitation of the Kwankwaso–Kanwa Road.
These interventions reflect the Kano State Government’s continued investment in critical infrastructure, particularly in education, road transportation, drainage and other public facilities that directly affect the welfare and socioeconomic development of residents.
The Commissioner emphasised that effective monitoring and evaluation remain essential to ensuring that government projects are executed in accordance with approved designs, contractual specifications and established engineering standards.
At the Chinese Bilingual College, the school principal, Malam Isyaku Abdullahi, expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf for the rehabilitation of the institution’s physical infrastructure.
He acknowledged the importance of the intervention in improving the school environment and creating better conditions for teaching and learning.
The principal, however, appealed to the government to consider additional infrastructure to strengthen the institution’s capacity and accommodate its operational needs. The requested facilities included additional classroom blocks, staff quarters, student hostels, a kitchen and solar-powered installations.
The appeal highlighted the need for sustained investment in educational infrastructure to support effective teaching, improve students’ welfare and enhance the overall learning environment.
Beyond the projects inspected in Kwankwaso town, the state Commissioner and the technical team assessed several other developmental interventions across Madobi Local Government Area.
These included solar-powered motorised boreholes at the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Madobi; the construction of a five-kilometre dual-carriageway road; a Neighbourhood Security Watch Division Office; and several classroom blocks.
The inspection of these projects enabled the Ministry to assess their implementation status, examine the quality of work and determine the extent to which contractors were complying with approved project requirements.
The inclusion of roads, water facilities, educational infrastructure and security-related projects in the exercise demonstrates the broad scope of the Ministry’s monitoring responsibilities and its commitment to ensuring that public investments translate into tangible benefits for citizens.
Strengthening Accountability and Value for Money
In a statement signed by Public Relations Officer MPPPME Sagir Ado Abubakar said the routine monitoring exercise forms part of the broader accountability framework of the Kano State Government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, with the Ministry serving as a key institution for ensuring compliance with public procurement regulations and the effective implementation of government projects.
Through regular technical inspections, performance assessments and follow-up on previously identified deficiencies, MPPPME seeks to promote transparency, discourage substandard construction, encourage contractors to meet their contractual obligations and ensure that public resources deliver the intended outcomes.
The assessment of 24 projects valued at ₦49,379,454,632.95 in Madobi Local Government Area further demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening oversight and maintaining standards across the state’s development projects.
Under the leadership of Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, the Ministry continues to prioritise systematic project monitoring and evaluation as essential instruments for improving infrastructure delivery, protecting public investments and advancing the Kano State Government’s development agenda.

Kebbi Govt Dismisses ADC’s Allegations Over Land Demolition
Kebbi State Government has dismissed allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) linking it to the demolition of a property around Azbir Hotel, along in Birnin Kebbi, describing the claims as false, misleading and politically motivated.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK, stated this during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi, thr state capital attended by media aides to the Kebbi State Governor.
Ahamed BK accused the opposition party, ADC of repeatedly resorting to unsubstantiated allegations, deliberate misinformation and distortion of facts in what he described as an attempt to discredit the Kebbi State Government and generate unnecessary public controversy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He explained that the incident was essentially a private land ownership dispute which had been mischievously presented by some ADC supporters on social media as an action carried out by the state government against an opposition-owned property.
According to him the subsequent developments and documentary evidence presented by Alhaji Umaru Mohammed Gulumbe, a businessman claiming ownership of the disputed property, established that the matter was a civil dispute between private individuals as the documents presented, according to the Commissioner, was a Certificate of Occupancy bearing the signature of former Governor Adamu Aliero.
The Commissioner further explained that Gulumbe had formally reported the alleged trespass to the Police and petitioned the Ministry of Lands and Housing as committees were constituted to investigate the matter examined the competing claims and confirmed ownership of the disputed plot in favour of Gulumbe.
Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK categorically maintained that the Kebbi State Government neither initiated nor participated in the demolition, stressing that the government had no involvement in the private dispute. He described attempts to associate the administration of Governor Idris, with the incident as a calculated effort to mislead the public and tarnish the government’s image.
He expressed concern that despite the emergence of information clarifying the circumstances surrounding the incident, the ADC had not publicly retracted its allegations or offered an apology to the state government.
He maintained that political differences should never become an excuse for manufacturing allegations or misleading the public on matters that can be established through lawful procedures.
