Kebbi State Police Command Presents Over N11m To Families Of Deceased Officers

The Kebbi State Police Command has presented cheques of Eleven Million, Four Hundred Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty-Two Naira, Thirty-Five Kobo to eighteen (18) beneficiaries.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer SP Bashir Usman made this known in a statement issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.

He said the next-of-kin of the deceased Police Officers under the Group Life Assurance (GLA) and Group Personal Accident (GPA) Insurance Schemes, in fulfilment of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to the welfare of families of its deceased personnel.

The cheques were presented by the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Umar Hadejia on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police and the Force Management Team to the welfare of officers and their families, noted that the service and contributions of the deceased officers to the nation remain deeply appreciated .

The beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, the Force Management Team and the Commissioner of Police for the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of the Force’s continued care for the families of its deceased officers.

Niger State Govt Imposes Dusk To Dawn Curfew In Minna, Its  Environs

Niger State Government has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew in Minna the state capital ọver the death ọf thirty seven miners in the state.

Thẹ curfew was imposed after some aggrieved youth took ọver the street following the death ọf thirty seven miners in Civil Defence custody in which they resort to attacking a bank, Government vehicles  and ransacking party offices.

Governor Mohammed Umar Bago who stated this while addressing Federal Government officials including the Minister ọf Interior at the Government House Minna, said the mob action that erufted on Thursday had left the state Transport Company fleet vandalised and people businesses looted by vandals among others.

Hẹ however explained that imposing the 6pm to 6am curfew had became imperative to restore order as vandals werẹ talking ọver the street whẹre the state Government has ordered the immediate suspension ọf all mining activities including legal and illegal acriss the state until soil test is determine.

Thẹ Governor also appealed to people ọf the state to remain peaceful and orderly and keep their children at home to ensure that such cases werẹ nip in the bud.

Minister Ọf Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo expressed Federal Government deep sympathy and gave an assurance that the incident would not be allowed to slide, while the Ministry will collaborate with Niger State Government to get to the root ọf the progrsmme.

Liman Zahra foundation Visits NUJ Kano Council, Congratulated Secretary

The Liman Zahra foundation women’s wing has paid a solidarity and congratulatory visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano State Council, to celebrate the confirmation of one of its member, Hauwa Zahradeen, as the substantive Secretary of the Council.

Speaking during the visit, Chairperson of the Liman Zahra Foundation womens wing , Hajiya Aishatu Habib Umar, said the family was delighted by the appointment, describing it as a significant achievement and a source of pride to the Liman Zahra family.

Hajiya Aishatu prayed for Allah’s continued guidance and wisdom for the NUJ leadership, urging them to remain committed to delivering their mandate effectively.

Responding, Chairman of the NUJ Kano State Council, Comrade Sulaiman Abdullahi Dederi, who was represented by the Vice Chairman, Comrade Mustapha Gambo, described the visit as a unique gesture, noting that it was the first time a family had formally visited the Council to celebrate the appointment of one of its members.

Comrade Dederi said Hauwa Zahradeen is a committed and hardworking journalist whose dedication to her duties has earned her the confidence of the Union’s leadership.

He noted that despite the demands of her core professional responsibilities, Hauwa zahradeen has continued to demonstrate commitment and dedication to the activities of the Union.

The NUJ Chairman commended the Liman Zahra Foundation women’s wing for the visit and congratulated the family on the achievement.
