From Adamu Iliyasu Hotoro
The Chairman of Tarauni Local Government, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Muhammad Sekure, has launched the distribution of free school materials to 9,500 primary school pupils as part of an educational support initiative by the Kano State Government aimed at improving education and easing the financial burden on parents.
The Chairman disclosed this during the official launch of the distribution exercise, held at the Tarauni Local Government Secretariat, in the presence of headteachers of primary schools across the local government area.
He explained that the initiative was part of the efforts of the Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, to improve the standard of education and provide pupils with essential learning materials.
He added that the support would encourage school attendance and promote access to quality education.
Earlier in his remarks, the Education Secretary of Tarauni Local Government, Comrade Bashir Muhammad Karkasara, commended the Chairman of Tarauni Local Government and the Kano State Governor for providing the educational support.
He noted that the provision of free school materials would help reduce the financial burden on parents and encourage children who might otherwise be reluctant to attend school due to a lack of basic learning materials.
Comrade Karkasara urged headteachers to ensure that the materials were distributed fairly to deserving pupils and that the items were properly utilised to achieve the objectives of the programme.
In his remarks, the Director personnel management officer of Tarauni Local Government, Alhaji Tijjani Madaki Gulya, reaffirmed his commitment to advising and supporting the local government chairman on strategies to further develop the education sector.
He emphasised the importance of collaboration with relevant stakeholders to sustain improvements in education and create a brighter future for the younger generation in Tarauni Local Government Area.
